At times, there babies are bornwith one or both tear partially or completely blocked. They usually open aroundthe second week, when the child begins to produce the first tears, meanwhile,is a watery liquid a little mucus, tears instead of drained through the nosewill begin to fall by the eyelids, this is not usually painful and ducts openedwithout treatment.



If the tear ducts are blockedwhile the tears drain as they should, you may be infected. These infectionsproduce a secretion, whitish at the corners of the eyes, eyelashes and becomesticky when dry may stick together, while the baby sleeps and then it isimpossible to open their eyes.


This is usually treated with eyedrops or ointment prescribed by the doctor after examining it, sometimes justcleaning the infant's eye with a little sterile water embedded in a small speckof cotton. Be used once and then throw it away, using a new one every time yousanitize your child's eyes.

These infections can occurseveral times during the first months of your baby is born, rarely blocking thetear requires surgery.
